Removing the old roof.
Removing as much of the old vapor barrier as they can.
The old vapor barrier was attached with hot asphalt, and it’s really fused to the concrete deck.
Priming the substrate.
Rolling out a course of the new vapor barrier.
One course down.
Making sure it’s properly aligned before pulling off the release strip.
Off comes the release strip. The adhesive can now do its job.
Rolling in the vapor barrier to ensure full adhesion.
Still rolling.
That substrate isn’t smooth enough for a big roller. They have to use smaller rollers to press the membrane down into all the nooks and crannies.
Small roller works better here because the old vapor barrier is still stuck on the deck in some places, causing bridging in the new membrane in some places. Can’t have areas with no adhesion.
Almost done.
Looking good.
Ready for the insulation.
And the next phase begins. Setting insulation boards in polyurethane foam adhesive.
