Why Use a Manufacturer-Certified Roofing Contractor?
It can be difficult to find a reliable roofing contractor who does high-quality work. One thing to look into is whether the contractor has been certified by a major roofing manufacturer.
Contractors who feel confident in the high quality of their work will often go the extra mile and become manufacturer-certified.
How a Roofing Contractor Becomes Certified
The process for becoming certified normally includes applicator training programs run by the manufacturer’s technical department and a required minimum number of years of roofing experience.
In addition, the manufacturer’s technical representatives will inspect a certain number of actual roofs installed by the contractor to verify the quality of the workmanship.
Better Roof Warranties
In order for a new roof to be eligible for a top-tier warranty, most reputable roofing manufacturers will require that a certified roofing contractor does the work.
The thinking here is simple. If a manufacturer can be sure that a contractor is highly unlikely to mess up, then they can be confidant that generous warranty terms won’t end up costing them a lot of money. There simply won’t be any expensive repairs for them to have to cover under the warranty.
You can reason that if the roofing manufacturer trusts these contractors to perform the work to a high standard (so the manufacturer won’t end up losing money on warranty issues), then you can trust them, too.
(This is not always the case, and we are not endorsing any of the contractors you find through these links.)
