We’re having a little fun here, and we promise that no quantitative methods were harmed in the making of this list. The songs are presented purely according to arbitrary personal preferences, but we are open to suggestions if you think we’ve overlooked some gem of a roof song.

We aren’t trying to depress anyone, though, so don’t go contacting us to remind us about “The Roof is Leaking” by Phil Collins.

And yes, of course, “The Roof is on Fire” would have been #2 (the Bloodhound Gang version, not the Rock Master Scott & The Dynamic Three version) if we didn’t think it was in poor taste to be obscene on the internet.

Enjoy!

Top Ten Roof Songs:

10. “Drip Drop” – the Drifters

9. “Up the Ladder to the Roof” – The Supremes

8. “Is This Love” – Bob Marley

He sings “with a roof right over our heads”, so that’s good enough for me. It’s a roof song.

7. “Tin Roof Shack” – Golden Gate Wingmen

6. “Rain on the Roof” – Lovin’ Spoonful

5. “Ready to Go” – Republica

4. “Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)” – Parliament

3. “Don’t Let The Rain Come Down” – Serendipity Singers

2. “Fixing a Hole” – the Beatles

Well, they never actually say the word “roof” in this song, but come on, we all know exactly where the rain is getting in. The roof. The hole is in the roof.

1. “Up On The Roof” – the Drifters

Of course!
By the way, did you know that “Under the Boardwalk” starts out on a roof?
